Two Swansea players have shared a $1 million Saturday Lotto prize, but the winning duo may have yet to discover their good fortune.

The players were part of a two-share store syndicate, which held one of the 10 division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4223 on Saturday 8 January 2022. Each division one winning entry scored $1 million.

In addition to scoring division one, the syndicate’s System 7 QuickPick entry also won division three 6 times, bolstering the total win to $1,004,538.70. Each syndicate member receives a share worth $502,284.46.

Shares into the winning syndicate were purchased at Swansea Newsagency, Shop 1, 202 Pacific Highway, Swansea.

Swansea Newsagency owners Wayne Blackmore and Jo-Ann Brand said they were thrilled to have sold another division one winning entry.

“I arrived at the shop at 5am on Sunday morning and went through the daily ritual of printing the previous night’s draw information for our customers. To my surprise, one of the winning outlets was Swansea Newsagency!” Wayne exclaimed.

“I’ve been telling all our regular customers about our winning syndicate, and they’re happy for the lucky winners, even though it’s not them.

“This newsagency has been open since the early 1940s, and during the past decade, we’ve sold about six or seven division one winning entries. The last one was a $1.23 million Saturday Lotto prize in June 2020.

“We’re waiting to see who the lucky winners might be as we have some very loyal syndicate customers. Just to see their smiles will be so good.

“Jo and I are so very happy, not only for the winners but also for our wonderful staff who have worked so hard through this pandemic to ensure our wonderful customers and our local community are safe.”

Each syndicate member won more than half-a-million dollars! What a great way to start 2022.
