An Elwood woman has declared she still can’t believe this morning’s discovery she is now more than $603,000 richer from winning
division one in Saturday’s TattsLotto draw – a game she has played for 40 years.

The disbelieving woman held one of the seven division one winning entries across Australia in TattsLotto draw 3871 on Saturday 25 August 2018. Each entry takes home a division one prize of $603,397.66.

Despite her entry being registered to a Tatts Card, the woman’s contact details were not up to date, so Tatts officials had to wait until she checked her ticket.

When speaking with a Tatts official this morning, the woman recounted how she only discovered the life-changing news hours earlier – four days after the draw.

“I was just checking my ticket at the newsagency and the ticket didn’t scan as normal,” the woman explained.

“It wasn’t until they told me it was because I had won a big prize that I realised I had won division one.

“I still can’t believe it!”

The regular player revealed she has been playing TattsLotto since the game began.

“I’ve been playing a QuickPick every Saturday for about 40 years! When I told my family that I had won they said ‘It’s about time!’,” the woman laughed.

When asked how she planned to spend her TattsLotto windfall, the thrilled winner revealed she was yet to decide but would be wise with it.

“I think the first thing I’ll do is phone my accountant and he can tell me how best to spend it!” she said.

“I still need to let it sink in before I decide anything else.”

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning 24 Game QuickPick entry from Elwood Newsagency & Lotto, 105 Ormond Road, Elwood.

Elwood Newsagency & Lotto owner David Lacey said he was thrilled to have sold his first division one winning entry.

“It’s pretty exciting for a lot of reasons!” he exclaimed.

“We’ve been in this location since 1992 and we’ve had about eight major prize wins since then but the last one was in 2007.

“It’s great that we’ve broken the drought and are back on the list of winning outlets.

“It’s also great because it is the first time a division one winning entry has been sold since I took over the store several years ago.

“I was starting to wonder if I didn’t have the magic touch but now I don’t have to worry!

“It’s fantastic it was won by a regular customer and a local to the area. Hopefully there are lot more winners to come!”
