Three days after his winning numbers were drawn, a Caringbah dad has been left happily stunned by the revelation he is now Set for Life after winning the coveted First Prize of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years. 

The New South Welshman’s entry won the First Prize in Set for Life draw 962 on Sunday 25 March 2018. 

The man winner is the fourth First Prize winner to land in New South Wales during the past six months, and the 37th First Prize winner nationally since the game began. 

While initial attempts to contact the registered player were unsuccessful, this morning a NSW Lotteries official confirmed his Set for Life win. 

“Struth!” the winner exclaimed after a long pause. 

“I think it’s fantastic! I’ve been travelling so I hadn’t had the chance to check my ticket.  

“I just get two SETS every week. Sometimes I forget to get an entry so I’m glad I had a ticket for Sunday night’s draw!” he laughed. 

With the win still sinking in, the happy dad admitted he didn’t know exactly how he would use his prize, but knew he would definitely “look after the kids”. 

“I wasn’t expecting it, I’ll put it this way.  It will make things a little bit easier that’s for sure,” he added.  

“I never even thought about how much the actual prize is! 

“I was just thinking this week of making some numbers up for Set for Life.  I was going to sit down and pick some numbers to mark my entry.  Well anyway, you beat me to it! 

“I might still do it!  Maybe I can be the first person to win twice!” 

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 2-SET entry at Caringbah Village Newsagency, Shop 6, Caringbah Shopping Village, 58 President Avenue, Caringbah. 

Caringbah Village Newsagency owner Steve Sutton said it was fantastic news the winner had been united with their prize. 

“We’ve had a lot of people coming in to check their tickets,” he said. 

“I was a bit shocked when I saw we had sold a First Prize winning entry.  We’ve been here about 20 years and this is our 17th division one and First Prize.  We were averaging one a year for a while there and then it was quiet so it’s great to see the wins are back.” 

Across the country, the New South Wales winner held the only entry that won First Prize in Set for Life draw 962 on Sunday 25 March 2018, which offers a guaranteed First Prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years for up to four winners in each draw.   

The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 962 were 32, 14, 20, 30, 29, 24, 16 and 21, with the bonus numbers 37 and 19. 

During the 2017 calendar year, there were 12 Set for Life 1st Prize winners across Australia who will receive $57.6 million during the next 20 years.
