Forget reading a magazine while on the toilet, this morning, one Townsville woman found herself checking her family’s lottery tickets – with one entry scoring a $4.8 million Set for Life division one win.

The winning family held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2091, drawn Tuesday 27 April 2021. They take home the division one prize of $4.8 million paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

Speaking with us, the North Queenslanders said they felt like they were walking on air after making their exciting discovery this morning.

“Woo-hoo! Oh my god!” the winning man laughed.

“We are shaking! Is this for real? We kind of thought we won but we wanted to double check.

“We didn’t want to get too excited!”

“I actually checked the ticket while I was on the toilet,” the winning woman added.

“I ran straight to my husband and showed him.

“He was shaking and he just looked at me and said ‘don’t do anything, don’t say anything, we can’t get excited yet!’.

“But there was lots of crying, screaming and cheering regardless. How could there not be?

“It’s absolutely perfect.

“We are all going to celebrate today! There’s no way we’re doing anything but celebrating.”

When asked how they planned to enjoy being Set for Life, the overwhelmed winners said they had one thing in mind.

“We are going to buy a new car, today!” the man explained.

“I am sure there will be a few other things on the list, like holidays, and obviously we will help our family.

“It’s a bit hard to think about what to do with it! We have been playing the lottery for thirty years, so we never imagined the day this would happen.”

The life-changing 3-game QuickPick was purchased at News On The Avenues, 85 Burnda Street, Kirwan.

News On The Avenues owner David Neilsen said he couldn’t be happier to have made one of his customers Set for Life.

“I am so, so excited,” David said.

“It’s so great that we have had a division one winner! “We haven’t sold that many division one winning entries, so it’s amazing news.

“We would love to send our congratulations to the winning family. We wish them all the very best!”
