This October, we are proud to further our commitment to  the Starlight Children’s Foundation, supporting their work to brighten the lives of sick kids and their families during their time in hospital.

While most Australians approach the Christmas period thinking of family time, gifts, and full bellies, children with serious illnesses are unfortunately unable to celebrate at home with all the comfort and company of their families and friends.

It is during this time in hospital that the magical world of Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express rooms transport the children and their families to a fun, joy filled world where they can smile, play, and forget the rigor of procedures and appointments.

The Lott values the wonderful work Starlight do for children, young people and their families and have committed a further $150,000 to supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation’s hospital and community programs. This is in addition to a $100,000 donation from the Lott for Starlight Day in April this year.

Starlight’s programs are focused on the Starlight Express Room, Starlight Ward program, Livewire in Hospital and the Starlight Wish granting program. Bringing happiness to sick kids is at the heart of these initiatives.

Starlight’s Queensland State Manager, Tracey Tomlin said the $150,000 donation will have a positive impact on children and families in hospitals.

“We have partnered with the Lott for many years and we greatly value their commitment to continue growing the services for sick children and their families,” she said.

“We are very thankful for this incredible donation and the Lott’s help in making such a difference to the children and their families.”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Australia’s Official Lotteries contributed more than $1.3 Billion in state lottery taxes and donations to help our community, including support for hospitals, health research, disaster relief, and education.
