Every child deserves the best medical care, whenever they may need it, which is why the Lott is once again the official broadcast partner for the 2020 Channel Nine Gold Telethon being held this weekend in New South Wales.

The Gold Telethon, now celebrating its 11th year, supports the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

The Lott, through NSW Lotteries, has a long, proud history of supporting the New South Wales community by helping the delivery of key health and social infrastructure projects.

The two-hour Gold Telethon will be broadcast on Channel Nine on Monday 8 June 2020 from 3pm to 5pm to raise money for sick children.  Last year, the event raised a record $6,115,976.

Given the current environment, this year’s telethon will see the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick community and celebrities come together virtually rather than in person.  Through heartwarming stories and entertainment, it hopes to inspire people to dig-deep to help children who spend long periods of time in hospital.

Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO Nicola Stokes explained the importance of this event.

“COVID-19 means this year’s appeal may look a little different, but our commitment to the sick kids of Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick remains the same,” she said.

“Illnesses like cancer won’t stop for COVID-19 and neither will our healthcare heroes who care for them.

“In tough times, we don’t give up and while the Gold Telethon will now be a two hour TV special, we are confident the community will still rally around and show their support for sick kids and help raise $1 million for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Lott for their ongoing support as a broadcast partner of the Gold Telethon.”

Every year Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick cares for more than 72,000 children, not just in the Emergency Department and Hospital wards, but also through the Outpatients and Outreach Services.

Money raised from the Gold Telethon will allow the Sydney Children’s Hospital fund life-saving medical research and provide an incredible array of patient and family support programs.

As part of our continued support of the communities we operate in, we are very proud to be the broadcast partner of the Channel Nine Gold Telethon for the second year. We hope that our contribution is just the beginning of a successful day raising much-needed funds for sick children in New South Wales.
