The Lott supports sick children across Victoria with donation to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity
We are proud to announce The Lott is the official broadcast partner of the Footy Show Grand Final Eve: My Room Telethon.
The Sunday Footy Show will join forces with My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, to help raise much-needed funds for cancer patients in Victoria.
As part of this partnership, we are donating $100,000 to support My Room’s ambition to achieve a 100% cure rate for all childhood cancers.
My Room is a volunteer-run organisation and has been dedicated to increasing the survival rate of childhood cancer for over 25 years. In this time, it has raised more than $18 million for research, clinical care, family support, and to improve the quality of life for children with cancer.
Sadly, cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease and Australia continues to have one of the highest rates of childhood cancer in the world. An average of 750 children aged up to 14 years are diagnosed with cancer each year. Of these, almost half (48%) are under the age of five.
The Telethon will be broadcast on Channel 9 on Friday 23 October from 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now in Victoria and South Australia.
My Room CEO Margaret Zita OAM said funds raised from the Footy Show Grand Final Eve: My Room Telethon would continue to support four funding pillars, family support, medical equipment, clinical care, research, clinical trials as well as supporting the Monash Children’s Hospital Cancer Centre.
“We are really grateful for the support of the Telethon from all sectors of the community. We hope to achieve our goal of raising more than $1 million this Friday night”.
