A Kings Meadow woman is finally allowing herself to celebrate her $1 million win in a recent Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw after staying up all night wondering if the news was real.

The Launceston resident held one of the three division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw, draw 4321, drawn Wednesday 13 September 2023 and pocketed $1 million.

The winning entry was unregistered which meant we had no way of contacting the mystery winner and had to wait for them to check their ticket and come forward.

The merry mother eagerly checked her ticket straight after the draw on Wednesday night and was left feeling lightheaded following the revelation she was a newly made millionaire.

“Oh my god! Oh my god!” she gasped.

“This is so surreal. I’m in shock.

“One million dollars?! That’s very hard to process.

“I checked the ticket last night straight after the draw. I went onto my iPad and scanned the ticket on The Lott app.

“It came up as $1 million and I thought, ‘no, that can’t be right!’

“I woke my husband up in a frenzy and asked him to check it to see if it was right.

“I think we checked it about 20 times.

“I really struggled to fall asleep. I’m very sleep deprived after only having about one hour sleep.

“We sat on it for a bit and then decided to both go into the newsagency to receive confirmation. We didn’t really know what the next step in the process was.

“Now we’re at the newsagency talking to you about being a millionaire – what are the chances?!

“My head is spinning.”

While the winning news came as a complete surprise, the Tasmanian knew immediately what she would do with the million-dollar windfall.

“We will look after our children as they’re most important to us,” she shared.

“We might complete some home renovations too. That would be good.

“And who knows, we might upgrade the car!”

Their winning entry was purchased at Meadow Mews News & Lotto, Shop 16 Meadow Mews Shopping Centre 102-106 Hobart Road, Kings Meadows.

Meadow Mews News & Lotto owner Jeff Dolbey said he was overjoyed to have sold his 26th division one winning entry within 24 years of operating.

“What fantastic news! We love being a part of winning moments and we have been doing so for more than two decades,” he said.

“This division one winning entry marks the 26th win in 24 years which is absolutely amazing.

“Our customers will be rapt to hear we’ve sold another division one winning entry and we’re already getting feedback about how exciting it is.

“We’re so happy we were a part of the winning moment as this division one winning entry was unregistered. The winning woman and her husband came into our store to check their ticket.

“We couldn’t do it without our team here at Meadow Mews News & Lotto, so I’ve treated everyone to some morning tea to celebrate this momentous occasion!

“There are one million reasons to be happy for this family and we can imagine the news would be particularly welcome during these challenging times. Congratulations to them and all the best!”
