A Parramatta man is struggling to contemplate the fact he’s woken up this morning almost $17 million richer, describing his Oz Lotto win as a blessing from above.

The Western Sydney player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1370, drawn Tuesday 19 May 2020. He takes home the entire division one prize of $16,917,396.58.

This morning, we contacted the man to confirm the life-changing news, momentarily reducing him to stunned silence.

“Wow! Thank you,” he eventually managed.

“Thank you. Thank you.

“That’s almost $17 million! It’s unbelievable.

“I checked my ticket at the newsagency this morning and I was told they couldn’t pay out the prize.

“That’s when we realised I was last night’s winner.

“I went blank. I couldn’t think at all. It’s a blessing from the heavens above!

“I’ve been playing Oz Lotto for a very long time, marking the same numbers week after week. I never thought I would win a prize this big.

“It’s hard to imagine having almost $17 million in the bank!”

When asked how he might begin to enjoy his $16.9 million prize, the man said the reality of the news would need to sink in first.

“We will certainly sleep on it, it’s going to take a little while to sink in,” he said.

“We will definitely be sharing the prize with our family and although we can’t go on a holiday at the moment to celebrate, we will do that down the track.

“We will be very wise with the prize but of course we will really enjoy it!”

The multi-million-dollar winning entry was purchased at Toongabbie Newsagency, 46 Aurelia Street, Toongabbie.

Toongabbie Newsagency owner Robert Chong said it was the first division one winning entry they’d sold this year.

“We’re so excited for our customer,” he said.

“What an incredible prize for him! “We hope the wins continue for all our customers, it’s such a thrill!

“Congratulations to our latest winner. We hope they really enjoy their prize!”
