A Wagga Wagga family had the surprise of their lives this morning, discovering they took home $15 million in last night’s Oz Lotto draw without realising they even had an entry into the draw.

The overwhelmed group held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1365, drawn Tuesday 14 April 2020. They take home the entire jackpot prize of $15 million.

We brought members of the family together on a conference call this morning to break the incredible news.

“Fifteen million dollars?” one of the adult children began to question.

“Are you sure about this?

“We didn’t even know we had an entry into last night’s draw!

“Oh my god. Is this some kind of joke?

“I think we’re are in shock. We had no idea!”

To their complete surprise, the adult children quickly learnt their father had been running a family syndicate for more than a decade.

“I have been buying them lottery tickets for years and years,” the dad laughed.

“I always hoped we’d win something small to share but never thought we’d win $15 million!

“This is so overwhelming. Oh my goodness.”

The shocked family had never contemplated exactly how they’d enjoy a multi-million-dollar prize, but said they happily had plenty of spare time to figure it out.

“We’ve all been staying at our separate homes and working from home. It’s been a crazy time and this has just made it all the more crazier!” one of the winning family members said.

“It will be completely up to our dad to decide how it will be distributed, but it will certainly be shared and enjoyed by so many of us.

“We do all have mortgages but $15 million – we’ve never thought about what we’d do with that!

“We didn’t even know we had a ticket! This is absolutely insane!

“It’s going to take some time to sink in, that’s for sure!”

The multi-million-dollar winning 10-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Nextra Sturt Mall, Shop 21, Sturt Mall, 135 Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga.

Nextra Sturt Mall employee Charlotte Ryan said she it was fantastic news for the Wagga Wagga community.

“It’s always to exciting to sell these massive division one prizes and even better to hear it has gone to a local family,” she said.

“We’ve been on a great run of big wins here in Wagga Wagga, it just goes to show that anyone can win!

“Congratulations to this family! It sounds like they’ll really enjoy their prize!”
