An Albury pensioner has shared a touching narrative after the revelation he had won more than $700,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, with the first celebration being a cozy moment with his beloved cat.

The New South Wales resident held one of the seven division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4435, drawn Saturday 20 January 2024, and took home a total prize of $712,527.54.

The winning man was completely unaware of his newfound treasure until we called him.

“Thank you. Thank you so much. I can’t believe it. You’ve made my day,” he exclaimed.

“I always played lotteries with Mum. She’s passed now but I still continue our marked entries.

“Each of the numbers we picked had a special meaning behind them. Most were birthdays or anniversaries.

“Whenever I’d visit her, she’d always say she couldn’t wait to go halves in the winnings, and I’d always go ‘But mum you don’t pay half!’

“I was just joking of course. I wish she was around. She would’ve been over the moon.

“I’m really lost for words. The only thing I’ve ever won is a meat tray.

“I can buy myself a little unit. I’m a pensioner so this is going to help more than you know.

“Wow. Now to make myself a cup of tea and cuddle the cat!”

His winning marked System 7 entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
