A Ferntree Gully man who’s been busy dodging scam calls lately had a hard time believing us when we called with the news he'd won more than $1 million in TattsLotto.

The Melbourne resident held one of the five division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4231 on Saturday 5 February 2022. Each division one winning entry scored $1,158,104.80.

“Oh my god! I had no idea. Is this real?” he giggled nervously.

“Are you telling me I’ve won one million dollars? You’re telling me I’m a millionaire?

“This isn’t one of my mates pulling a prank, is it? Are you sure this is real? This better not be a joke or a scam! I’ve been dodging these calls lately.

“This is crazy! This is unbelievable!

“I was fast asleep when you called me, and I had to drag myself out of bed to answer the phone. I’m wide awake now after hearing this amazing news.

“You’ve absolutely made my day, my week, my year!

“I’ve been playing for about 40 years and the most I’ve won is about $200. This is just incredible.

“I’m going to be very quietly happy today. It’ll be peaceful knowing I’m going to be living life as a millionaire soon.

“I can’t wait to tell my family. They’re going to be so excited.

“I’ll use the prize to help my family and enjoy my retirement. I’ll donate to a few charities as well.”

His winning marked System 7 entry was purchased at Upper Ferntree Gully Newsagency, Shop 3 Ferntree Plaza, 1202 Burwood Highway, Upper Ferntree Gully.

Upper Ferntree Gully Newsagency owner Priti Patel said the entire team was thrilled for their division one winner.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw we’d sold a division one winning entry in the weekend’s draw. I was thrilled!” Priti said.

“I’ve been sharing the news with all our customers, and they are so happy. It’s created lots of exciting talk around our community.

“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold since we took over the business about three years ago. So, it’s a big moment for us.

“We’d love to send our congratulations to our winner. We’re so grateful for all of our customers’ support and we hope they all get to experience a big win.”
