A Lismore man has been left reeling from the revelation he’s now a millionaire thanks to a Saturday Lotto ticket he’d kept stashed in his car.

The New South Wales man held one of the seven division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4431 on Saturday 6 January 2024. Each division one winning entry scored $1,428,571.43.

When we called Sunday morning to confirm his prize, the unsuspected winner had to sprint to the car to find his valuable Saturday Lotto ticket.

“Holy sh**!” the man exclaimed when the enormity of his prize was revealed.

“Oh dear! Oh dear!

“Oh, mate. I wasn’t expecting this. It’s been a tough few years. Oh, mate! You’ve changed my life!

“It’s unbelievable! I’m still getting over the shock.

“I’ve been taking these numbers for a very long time – maybe 15 years or more. I don’t take them every week. I’m glad I took them this week!

“I’m stunned to tell you the truth! I don’t know what to say. I’s a big shock.

“I’m a bit shaken at the moment. I might have to sit back and relax after this call. I might have a cup of tea.”

The Northern Rivers winner shared he’d need time to fully comprehend his prize before making any concrete plans.

His winning marked 14-game entry was purchased at Lismore Square News, Shop 78, Lismore Shopping Square, 95 Diadem Street, Lismore.

Lismore Square News owner David Forsyth said his outlet’s latest division one win held special significance.

“My brother, Doug, owns Blackheath Newsagency, which also sold a division one winning entry in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw. What are the odds of both of our shops selling a division one win for the same draw!” he said.

“We wish our latest division one winner all the very best with their prize!”
