An Orbost woman has confessed she thought her eyes were deceiving her when she checked her TattsLotto ticket late on Saturday night and discovered she was a division one winner.

The East Gippsland resident held one of the 13 division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4447 on Saturday 2 March 2024.  Each entry took home $400,641.05.

“That’s very nice, isn’t it?!” the winning woman exclaimed when we called to confirm her prize.

“I checked my ticket late on Saturday night. I’ve had the same numbers going for decades – mostly family birthdates.

“I looked at the draw numbers and thought, ‘Am I drunk? Am I seeing things? That’s my numbers!’.

“We even had a nice bottle of bubbles to celebrate!

“I’ve been so excited. I haven’t been able to sleep and my tummy’s been all churned up with excitement.

“I’ve had a wonderful weekend.

“I’m going to share it with my family and I’m thinking a cruise!”

The woman’s winning marked System 9 entry was purchased at Orbost Authorised Newsagency, 136 Nicholson Street, Orbost.

Orbost Authorised Newsagency owner Sharon Kurrle said the win had become the talk of the town.

“We were very surprised when we saw we’d sold a division one winning entry and we’re all excited for the winner,” she said.

“We will be hoping it is the start of a run of great prizes to be won by many more customers.

“I think the last time we sold a division one winning entry was about nine years ago. So, in the time that I have owned the newsagency, we have now sold two division one tickets and quite a few division two tickets in various games.

“We all hope the winner enjoys the win and it makes life a bit easier for them.”
