Channel Nine’s Footy Show Grand Final Eve: My Room Telethon, sponsored by The Lott, has raised more than $3.3 million for kids with cancer and their families across Victoria.

Held on Friday 24 September, the annual telethon was hosted by the Footy Show during its AFL Grand Final Eve show to raise much-needed funds for My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.

The money raised will fund research, clinical care and family support aimed at improving the quality of life for children with cancer. My Room has raised over $20 million during the past 25 years.

My Room is a volunteer-run organisation and has been dedicated to increasing the survival rate of childhood cancer for over 25 years.

My Room Chief Executive Officer Margaret Zita said she thanked everyone for their support.

“In another year like no other, and despite the challenges that so many people are facing, we were blown away by the level of support that culminated in the extraordinary total raised,” she said.

“The record-breaking amount of $$3,301,334 million could not have been possible without the generosity of our loyal business networks, pro bono partners, corporate donors, My Room ambassadors and the amazing team at Nine, including the talent who have given My Room Children’s Cancer Charity a voice.

“Most importantly, a big thank you to the public for their generosity, and to the bravery of the patients who told their stories from Monash Hospital – it is for them that we continue to work towards a 100 per cent cure rate.

“We will now forge forward to ensure we get this money where it is needed. The children will get the best treatment they deserve in this country, as well as supporting them on their journey.

“Together, we are definitely making a difference.”
