“Indescribable” and “unbelievable” — our winners have been well and truly surprised by some winning news this week. And so have we!

Check out the highlights below.

Rockhampton’s newest retiree heading straight for the sea with Set for Life prize

Set for Life surprised us all, continuing a winning streak and crowning its third division one winner for the year!

Even more surprised than us was the winner himself, who couldn’t believe he would be taking home $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

“I’m in disbelief. It’s going to take a while to sink in, that’s for sure,” he said.

“You never think you are going to actually win it but here I am.

“Now I’m a millionaire! I just can’t believe it.

“I’ve always wanted to sail around Australia, now I have absolutely no excuse!”

The Rockhampton player is the 73rd Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the third Set for Life division one winner in the last two weeks.

Elizabeth Downs family celebrate “indescribable” $1.4 million Saturday X Lotto win for three days

Set for Life wasn’t the only game dishing out surprises. Over the weekend, Saturday Lotto delivered a $1.4 million prize to four winning entries, including one held by an Elizabeth Downs family in South Australia.

“We keep looking at the numbers to make sure it’s real,” explained one family member.

“We’ve been playing the same numbers for years. It’s each one of our birthdates.

“But mum puts the ticket on because she’s the lucky one! Everything she touches is lucky so we make her do it!”

Turns out mum did indeed have the knack and the happy group are looking forward to paying off their mortgages.

Lucky Lotteries lightning strikes twice for Port Macquarie man after he wins $100,000 prize for a second time

A Port Macquarie man also appears to have a winning knack, after he scored a Lucky Lotteries prize for the second time in his life!

“I didn’t expect this at all,” he exclaimed when we broke the news.

“It’s the second time I’ve won a prize like this. We’re going back a long, long time ago though. Back then, I shared it with a friend.

“I can’t wait to tell my wife. She’s going to be so excited!”

Bushfire Benefit Draw one year on: How Red Cross has helped rebuild communities

While we were wowed by this week’s winning news, we were also in awe of some news we received from our friends at Australian Red Cross.

It’s been one year since we made a contribution to the organisation, following our Saturday Lotto Bushfire Benefit draw which raised $1.8 million for bushfire impacted communities.

In the last 12 months Red Cross have done incredible relief and recovery work including helping 5,914 people (and counting) to meet urgent needs, make repairs, cover funeral or hospital costs, or find a safe place to live.

To date, more than 21,563 people have had assistance with recovery through one-on-one support, information and referrals. Find out more here.
