A Port Macquarie man admits he did a double-take when he checked the weekend’s Saturday Lotto results last night and realised he was now a millionaire.

The Mid North Coast resident held one of the five division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4197, drawn Saturday 9 October 2021. Each entry pocketed $1,234,408.51.

The ticket was unregistered so we had no way of contacting the winner to break the news and had to wait for him to come forward to claim his prize.

Speaking with us this morning, the elusive man admitted he initially didn’t think the win was real.

“It’s wonderful news! I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t!” he revealed.

“I went to look up the results for the draw last night, and I was left in shock. I had to look multiple times to make sure that it was real.

“In total, I think I refreshed the page up to five times! Who knew that a quick google could change your whole life around in seconds!

“As soon as I knew, I ran to my wife, who couldn’t believe the news either!

“Thank you so much.”

With more than $1 million about to hit his bank account, the merry man shared he knew exactly what he’d do.

“We’re hoping to pay off the house mortgage. It will be nice knowing it’s all paid off,” he shared.

“In terms of celebrating the prize, we’ll have to wait for it to hit our bank account!”

His life-changing entry was purchased at BP Port Plaza, 100 Ocean Drive, Port Macquarie.

BP Port Plaza team member Megan George said the team was elated for the winner.

“It’s always great knowing we’ve helped a customer. A regular too!” she said.

“It’s been quite challenging for everyone in New South Wales this year, and to know that a regular customer has won a major lottery prize is fantastic.

“A big congratulations to the winner! We wish them all the very best.”
