A Melton West woman has finally found a reason to open the fancy bottle of wine she’d been saving for a special occasion after winning $20,000 a month for 20 years in last night’s Set for Life draw.

The Melburnian held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2355, drawn Sunday 16 January 2022. She takes home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

When we called the Victorian this morning, she was waiting patiently by the phone to have her winning news confirmed.

“I’m so nervous right now!” the winning woman laughed.

“Oh my god! Oh my god! Thank you. “I can’t believe it. Jesus. This is incredible!

“I started playing Set for Life about a year ago. I play each week and I usually check the numbers when I’m in bed to see if I’ve won.

“I’d woken up in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep so I jumped on my iPad and checked my online account to see if I’d won anything in the draw.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw I’d won division one. It was crazy! I woke up my partner straight away and told him.

“He didn’t believe me. He was very unsure about the whole thing, and he kept thinking it was just a dream.

“We didn’t sleep a wink after that! We kept checking the ticket to make sure It was real. It’s amazing.

“Since we couldn’t sleep, we just sat up talking about what we’ll do with the money.

“We’re definitely planning to buy a house and we’d like to upgrade our cars.

“There will be a few holidays as well. We’d love to do an overseas trip this year.

“We’ll certainly take it a bit easier too and use the prize to really enjoy our lives. Then we’ll save some for the future.

“We’ve got a really nice bottle of wine in the fridge that we’ve been saving for a special occasion. I guess this is the special occasion!”
