Forget the average day at work. Forget cleaning the bathroom, or the usual weekly routines. This week winners across the country were happily surprised to discover some winning news when they least expected it.

Check out the highlights below!

“I’ve just won Set for Life!”: Proserpine woman receives life-changing phone call at work

Picture this; it’s Monday morning, you’re at work, and you’ve just received a phone call with the news you’ve won division one in Set for Life. Well, that was the reality for one Proserpine woman who will now be receiving $4.8 million during the next two decades!

“Oh my god! I’ve just won Set for Life! I’m not kidding, I have,” she said to her colleagues.

“This is incredible. It’s absolutely incredible!

“My work friends can’t believe it either!”

The self-confessed battler plans to use her prize to buy a new car, donate to a variety of charities and spoil her family.

Maroubra woman abandons bathroom clean to celebrate $100,000 win

A Maroubra woman was also hard at work when she received some winning news. We caught her mid bathroom clean to tell her she’d won $100,000 in Tuesday’s Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.

“Oh my goodness gracious me! I think I’m going to swear! I’m sh*tting bricks!” she exclaimed.

“I was supposed to be on holiday right now, but I couldn’t go because of COVID-19, so the win has definitely cheered me up.

“I can’t go anywhere to celebrate, but I think I’m going to stop cleaning the bathroom and have a cup of tea instead!”

Rockbank woman looking forward to the dentist after Instant Scratch-Its win yields her $1,000 a week for five years

If celebrating a win with a cup of tea isn’t your style, how about a trip to the dentist? Earlier this week a Rockbank woman scored one of the top prizes of $1,000 a week for five years on an Instant Scratch-Its Live the Life ticket and declared she’d use the prize to get her teeth fixed.

“I was very emotional when I realised I had won,” she told us.

“I never thought anything like this would happen to me.”

The woman revealed a trip to the dentist was at the top of her wishlist, but with $1,000 a week for five years headed her way, we’re sure she’s already wearing a winning smile!

Kilmore man shocked to discover suspected $500 win is actually a $550,000 win!

While a dentist will help make our Rockbank winner’s dream come true, a Kilmore man might be thanking his optometrist after he discovered his division one TattsLotto win.

“I didn’t realise what I’d won at first,” the Victorian player recounted to us.

“I thought I won $500. I had to go put my glasses on because I couldn’t see properly. “That’s when I realised!

The thrilled man had actually scored a prize worth more than $550,000! It turns out it pays to wear your glasses.

September is International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

While we have the incredible privilege of delivering unexpected winning news to people across the country, some families sadly receive very different phone calls, with twenty Australian children diagnosed with cancer each week. However, thanks to some incredible organisations, there is hope that the tide will turn on this statistic.

All through September, we’re recognising the resilience of Aussie families living with childhood cancer, as well as the dedication of researchers, medical teams and support workers who provide vital services for these families.

Stay tuned as we bring you some inspiring stories from our community partners, including The Zero Childhood Cancer Program, The Children’s Cancer Association, and the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
