We are proud to announce The Lott is once again supporting the wonderful work My Room does for sick kids and their families in Victoria.

On Friday night, as part of the annual Footy Show Grand Final Eve: My Room Telethon, we are donating $100,000 to support My Room’s ambition to achieve a 100% cure rate for all childhood cancers.

On the eve of the biggest day on the AFL calendar, the Sunday Footy Show will again team up with the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity to raise critical funds for kids fighting cancer.

My Room is a volunteer-run organisation and has been dedicated to increasing the survival rate of childhood cancer for over 25 years. In this time, it has raised more than $20 million for research, clinical care, family support, and to improve the quality of life for children with cancer.

Sadly, cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease and Australia continues to have one of the highest rates of childhood cancer in the world.

An average of 750 children aged up to 14 years are diagnosed with cancer each year. Of these, almost half (48%) are under the age of five.

The Footy Show Grand Final Eve: My Room Telethon is a crucial fundraiser that will help fund life-saving medical research, research grants, and family care and support.

The money raised will support the important work done by Monash Children’s Hospital, as well as other key beneficiaries.

The Telethon will be broadcast from 7.30pm on Friday 23 October on Channel 9 and 9Now in Victoria and South Australia.

My Room CEO Margaret Zita said funds raised from the Footy Show Grand Final Eve: My Room Telethon would continue to support their four funding pillars: family support, medical equipment, clinical care, research and clinical trials.

“We are really grateful for the support of the Telethon from all sectors of the community. We hope to achieve our goal of raising more than $1.4 million,” she said.
