Emu Park couple left in disbelief over Saturday Gold Lotto fortune

A couple from Emu Park say they can breathe a little easier after their Saturday Gold Lotto division one win.

However, the couple took some convincing that their marked 10-game entry had won the big one.

“Are you bulls****ing me?” the husband queried when we called to confirm their prize.

“It’s all bulls***!” his wife cried in the background.

“Mate, you’re a champion!” the winning man added when he realised his good fortune was true.

“Five hundred and forty-one thousand! If you lived nearby, I’d shout you a beer!

“You’ve made my day! I’m shocked! Thank you! I don’t know what to say.”

“It’s beautiful! Thank you! God bless you,” his wife exclaimed.

When asked how they might enjoy their prize, the couple shared they were too stunned to make any immediate plans but described the win as “life-changing”.

“It just means we can breathe a little easier,” the winning man said.

“It gives us a nest egg for our retirement. It’s life-changing!”

The duo’s  winning marked 10-game entry was purchased at Emu Park Newsagency, 14B Hill Street, Emu Park.

Emu Park Newsagency owner Sudheer Reddy said he was delighted his outlet had helped make someone’s dreams come true.

“Our customers are thrilled to learn we’ve sold a division one winning ticket and are hopeful next time it’ll be them,” he said.

“We’d love to congratulate our division one winner and hope all their dreams are fulfilled. All the best for the future!

“We feel honoured to have sold a division one winning ticket, and hope to sell many more in the future.”

Cairns man pops the champagne to celebrate Saturday Gold Lotto prize

A Cairns man wasted no time celebrating his Saturday Gold Lotto win, popping a bottle of French champagne with his wife.

“I found out this morning at 5am! I usually wake up pretty early and I checked my ticket,” the happy winner explained.

“I let my wife sleep until 7am and then I said, ‘I’ve got news that’s going to make your day!’.

“It’s awesome!

“I’ve only been playing for about 30 years!

“It’s been a bit of a joke in my family that I keep saying that when I win Gold Lotto, I’m going to do this and that.  Well, the joke’s on them as now I have won!

“This really takes the pressure off.

“It means my wife and I can retire. We want to travel around Australia in a caravan and this means we’ll be able to do all of that sooner than we thought.

“We’ve already bought a bottle of French champagne to celebrate!

“You’ve got to be in it to win it!”

The man’s winning 50-game QuickPick was purchased at TSG & Golden Casket DFO Cairns, Shop 305, DFO Cairns, 274 Mulgrave Road, Cairns.

TSG & Golden Casket DFO Cairns manager Kelly Moran said she was celebrating the win with balloons, streamers and “lots of smiles all round”.

“Our customers will be happy to learn that a division one winning ticket was sold by our store and will be looking forward to their chance to win,” she said.

“Our last winning division one winning entry was sold in 2022, so we have now sold two division one winning entries in five years.

“We wish to send a huge congratulations to our lucky customer. We have so many wonderful customers and are so glad we helped to make someone's dreams come true!”

Gold Coast woman eyes international travel with Saturday Gold Lotto prize

A Gold Coast woman has her passport ready and looks forward to discovering overseas shores thanks to her Saturday Gold Lotto win.

The Queenslander was oblivious to her good fortune until an official from The Lott contacted her yesterday.

“You’re joking!” she cried.

“Wow! Hell yeah!

“I don’t know what to say.

“I was feeling a bit cold, but now I’m all hot.

“Holy moly! I just can’t even think at the moment.

“This is just a random QuickPick. I can’t believe I spent $15 and won half a million dollars!

“This is just incredible. It means I can travel overseas and also spend more time with my family.”

The woman’s 18-game QuickPick was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
