Powerball Play by Your Own Rules

Powerball $120 Million Jackpot -
Thursday 26 May 2022

Powerball rockets to $120 million for next Thursday’s draw (draw 1358).

Powerball will offer the second-biggest jackpot in Australia lottery history next Thursday with the game’s jackpot soaring to $120 million.

The mammoth jackpot comes after no players held a division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1357, prompting the jackpot prize to roll higher for the sixth consecutive week.

This is the second time Powerball has offered a $120 million prize in 2022. In February, two division one winning entries – one from Coffs Harbour and a Kalgoorlie syndicate - shared this colossal jackpot.

If one player walks away with the entire $120 million prize next week, they’ll immediately become the biggest individual lottery prize winner in Australian history.

With such a massive offer on the table, we’re expecting people right around the country to be dreaming about exactly how they’d transform their lives if they won that prize.

You can grab your $120 million Powerball draw (draw 1358) entries in-store, online or via the app before the draw closes at 7:30pm AEST Thursday 26th May 2022.

Powerball Winners

A mother in her 40's from inner city Sydney holds the record for the largest individual win in Australian lottery history when she took home the entire $100 million Powerball jackpot in January 2019.

The healthcare worker pocketed the entire division one prize which was boosted to a phenomenal $107,575,649.08 due to the number of entries purchased in the draw, which at the time was the largest Powerball jackpot prize ever offered.

“I’m a healthcare professional but I won’t be retiring! I’m so passionate about my job. It will drive me to do more health work for causes important to me,” the elated healthcare worker declared.

The down-to-earth mum also shared she would be donating to charity, and of course helping her family.

The Sydney nurse recently shared with us how she has been enjoying her prize. You can catch-up on her story here.

Powerball Entry Prices

Of the 14 Powerball division one wins in 2021, 10 were secured by QuickPick entries, where the lottery terminal randomly chose the numbers. The remaining three wins came from marked entries, where people completed a coupon with their favourite numbers.

Half of last year's 14 winning Powerball entries were PowerHit entries, a special kind of entry unique to Powerball that guarantees the all-important Powerball number that you need to win division one.

Regardless of which entry you choose to play it is worth nothing that each number has an equal chance of being drawn.

To grab an entry in this Thursday’s Powerball draw you can head in-store to your local outlet, online or via The Lott app.

How to Win Powerball

Playing Powerball is easy! To buy your entry simply choose your favourite seven numbers and a Powerball number.

Powerball is drawn from 2 barrels. 7 numbers are drawn from the main barrel (numbered from 1 to 35) and 1 Powerball number is drawn from the Powerball barrel (numbered from 1 to 20).

There are 9 prize divisions in Powerball. You can win a prize with as little as 2 winning numbers plus the Powerball number in a single game. To win the division one jackpot your entry needs to match all 7 winning numbers plus the Powerball number in a single game. Powerball could give you the freedom to play by your own rules.

Powerball draws close at 7.30pm (AEST) every Thursday night.

What happens when you win Powerball

Our teams are often asked 'What happens when you win?'. We encourage all players to register their entry, that way our team can contact any registered division one winners after the draw to confirm that life changing news and begin the prize claim process.

When a winning ticket is registered and we reach out to confirm the win, our teams must follow a strict process to firstly confirm we are speaking to the rightful ticket holder. If you are a registered player, we will have all the details you’ve used to sign up as well as things like the exact type of ticket you bought, how many games, the numbers on the ticket, where you purchased it from.

Once we’ve confirmed we are speaking to the rightful ticket holder, we break the big news!

But if you bought a physical ticket in-store and think you have won the big one give us a call on 131 868. Our teams will explain that you will need to fill out a prize claim form which can either be mailed to you, printed from our website or picked up in person from a newsagent.

Once the form is filled out, it must be mailed back to us – along with the winning ticket – or dropped off in-person at a prize administration office.

Along with a novelty cheque and some winners champagne, we send each of our division one winners a booklet that details things they may like to consider, like speaking to a financial advisor and sharing the news with loved ones.
