A sleepy Cessnock grandmother says her son had to pick her up off the floor after she checked her Saturday Lotto ticket and realised she was one of the weekend’s division one winners.

The New South Wales player held one of the seven division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4167, drawn Saturday 26 June 2021. Each entry won a division one prize of $829,511.77.

The overwhelmed woman explained the winning news kept her up all night.

“I’m in absolute disbelief,” she said.

“I haven’t been able to sleep.

“Thank you. I can’t believe it.

“I saw on Facebook that my local newsagent had sold a division one winning entry, so I thought I’d better check my ticket.

“When I scanned my ticket, I thought it had to be some kind of scam.

“I screamed, ‘Oh my golly!’.

“My poor son had to pick me up off the floor.
“This doesn’t happen to people like me. It’s incredible!”

When asked what she planned to do with her lottery fortune, the Cessnock grandmother had a list ready to go.

“I’ve been doing some renovations around the house and now I will be able to finish them,” she declared.

“Then I will be able to pay off the house and take a holiday as soon as we can.

“The plan is to then do something very wise with the rest of it!”

The life-changing entry was purchased at Cessnock Plaza News & Gifts, Shop 16-17 Cessnock Plaza, 1 Keene Street, Cessnock.

Cessnock Plaza News & Gifts owner Sarah Pascoe said it gave her goosebumps knowing she’d been part of changing someone’s life.

“This is such an exciting time for the store and all of our staff,” she said.

“The customers have all been really excited by the news and are sending their congratulatory messages to the winner.

“It was only around eight weeks ago when we sold a Monday Lotto ticket worth $1 million. We can’t believe we’ve been this lucky twice in such a short amount of time.

“Congratulations to our winner, we want to wish them all the best and let them know that we’re so thrilled for them.”
