An Adelaide dad and a 15-person Berri syndicate have had a weekend to remember with each entry scoring a $4 million prize in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto draw.

The two South Australian division one winning entries were among the five in Saturday X Lotto draw 4387 on Saturday 5 August 2023.

Adelaide dad picks up phone to $4 million Saturday X Lotto fortune

A dad from Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs has confessed he didn’t initially answer the phone because he didn’t recognise the number.

“You’re kidding!” the man exclaimed when his win was eventually confirmed.

“That’s my wife in the background. She’s laughing and crying at the same time.

“Flaming heck!

“If I get a small win, I usually get an email. But I didn’t get one this morning, so I did a bit of swearing, said ‘bugger to that’, and went for a walk. I had no idea I’d won the big one!

“I only play semi-regularly. I won a small prize in last week’s Powerball so used that to buy this ticket. I always go for a QuickPick.

“We’ve got kids, so they’ll do all right out of it. We share everything.

“We’ll probably be able to find something to spend it on too, I’m sure!

“This is just amazing. I can’t believe it!”

“My wife is sitting down now.

“Thank you very much for this. I’m sorry I didn’t answer on the first call!”

His winning 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

Berri syndicate bursting with joy after sharing $4 million windfall

Fifteen Berri players have started the week with a boost to their bank accounts after their syndicate nabbed one of the five division one winning entries in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto draw.

In addition to the $4 million division one prize, the syndicate’s System 12 QuickPick entry also won division three 36 times, division four 225 times and division six 400 times, bolstering the total windfall to $4,047,955.90.

Each member of the syndicate receives a share worth $269,863.73.

However, some members of the winning South Australian syndicate may have yet to realise their good fortune, so we urge players to check their tickets as soon as possible.

Shares into the 15-share store syndicate were purchased at Berri Newsagency, Shop 2A Vaughan Court, Corner Kay Avenue and Vaughan Terrace, Berri.

Berri Newsagency owners Drew and Paula Nelsson said they were rejoicing the syndicate win.

“We were in disbelief and then a world of emotions – happiness and feelings of being grateful that we are able to help so many people better their lives financially with this win,” Paula said.

“There have been lots of happy tears. It’s just bloody fantastic.

“Obviously there will be a lot of happiness from the customers for the winners and for us as a retailer – we will enjoy and soak up every moment. There will be balloons and confetti – look out  Berri as we will be shouting from the rooftops.

“These wins make what we do fun. Happiness is catching, so if you’re sad this week, come in and we will cheer you up.

We are a big family here in the Riverland, it’s really nice to be a part of this community, we know they will share in our excitement too.

“We’ve now sold four division one wins in 21 years. Look out, were ready to go again soon!

“Congratulations to all our syndicate members. We are so very honoured to have been a part of your life-changing win. We will never forget it, as we know that you all won’t either.”

While we’ll be reaching out to those syndicate members who registered their entries, there are many who have unregistered entries and may not yet know they’re part of this winning group.
