A Cairns couple who love reading stories about lottery winners are thrilled to be making headlines themselves after scoring a Super 66 prize of more than $66,000.

The North Queensland residents held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Super 66 draw 4089 on Saturday 26 September 2020. The entry won a division one prize of $66,764.20.

This afternoon we broke the news to the happy duo, who were still reeling from their discovery.

“Thank you very much!” the winning man said.

“We are blown away!

“We were speechless when we initially found out and we are still speechless now.

“Honestly, it’s come at the most perfect time for us.

“It’s taken a load off.

“We are over the moon.

“It really hasn’t sunk in yet. We aren’t used to having that much money to have fun with.

 “It’s just awesome.

“Hooray, hooray!

“We always read your stories and have been waiting to read one about us, now we have one!

“We’ve already got a bottle off bubbly in the fridge waiting for us and we’re going to find a nice place to go for dinner.

“We might even book somewhere to stay tonight so we can have a proper celebration!”

When asked how they intended to enjoy their prize, the surprised pair said they already had a few plans.

“We have some bills we’d like to pay,” the happy man continued.

“We’ve also got some things around the house that we want to do, so we will be able to do that as well.

“It’s just fabulous!”

The regular players, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning one game entry at Nextra Redlynch Central Newsagency, Shop T21 Redlynch Central Shopping Centre, 7-15 Larsen Road, Redlynch.

Nextra Redlynch Central Newsagency manager Cressida Bradley said she couldn’t be happier for the winners.

“It’s fantastic!” she said.

“It’s our second division one win in five years.

“Hopefully this is the start of a winning streak!

“We’ve been sharing the news with all of our customers and put up some signs in celebration.

“We would like to send our congratulations to our winners.

“We’re grateful for their support and we are glad we could help deliver them a division one win.”
