Powerball Winners

If you win Powerball, you have the freedom to be everything you ever wanted. But the chance to win $100 million doesn’t happen every week.

Thursday night’s $100 million draw (1461) is only the ninth time in the game’s 28-year history there’s been the opportunity to win a prize of this magnitude so this is one draw you don’t want to miss!

18 January 2024
Powerball started 2024 strong with a $100 million jackpot in January, however the division one prize eluded players and the jackpot continued to climb until two winning entries took out a whopping $200 million prize in February.

3 August 2023
Two winning entries shared the division one prize taking out $50 million each. One entry was held by a Rosebery syndicate of 10 members who shared their slice of the prize, while a Melton mum became $50 million richer with her winning entry.

June 2023
A Bankstown dad became the second-biggest winner in Australian lottery history when he scored the entire $100 million Powerball jackpot in June.

December 2022
Powerball ended 2022 with an almighty bang, with three players sharing the $100 million jackpot. A Burwood dad, a Durack woman, and a Canterbury man each pocketed $33.33 million.

October 2022
There were no division one winners in the $100 million draw on 20th October 2022, which saw the jackpot soar to an epic $160 million. The jackpotting streak came to an end when three players shared this epic $160 million prize the following week.

September 2019
On this occasion, no player had all winning numbers needed to score the $100 million prize so the game jackpotted to $150 million. The $150 million jackpot was shared by three division one winning entries — two from Queensland and one from New South Wales.

January 2019
A draw for the history books! A Sydney mum won the entire division one prize scoring her more than $100 million, as well as the record as the nation’s biggest individual lottery prize winnerCatch-up on how she's found life after her record win.

August 2018
The very first time Powerball soared to $100 million the prize was shared by two players – a Sydney dad and a young Melbourne man.

In 2023, 20 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $552.15 million in prize money.

Will Thursday night's draw crown 2024's next Powerball winner?

Powerball Entry Prices

More than half of the 2023 Powerball division one winning entries were QuickPicks (11 of the 20) – where the lottery terminal randomly chooses the numbers for you.

In fact, 2023’s biggest winner – a Bankstown dad who won $100 million – scored his Powerball prize with a 6-game QuickPick, an entry that cost just $8.10.

Additionally, 11 out of 20 division one winning entries were PowerHit entries  – an entry unique to Powerball that guarantees the all-important Powerball number you need to win division one.

Regardless of which entry you choose to play it is worth nothing that each number has an equal chance of being drawn. It goes without saying you do need to have an entry to be in with a chance of taking home a $100 million prize!

To grab an entry in this Thursday’s $100 Million Powerball draw (draw 1444) you can head in-store to your local outlet, online or via The Lott app.

How to Win Powerball

Playing Powerball is easy! To buy your entry simply choose your favourite seven numbers and a Powerball number.

Powerball is drawn from 2 barrels. 7 numbers are drawn from the main barrel (numbered from 1 to 35) and 1 Powerball number is drawn from the Powerball barrel (numbered from 1 to 20).

There are 9 prize divisions in Powerball. You can win a prize with as little as 2 winning numbers plus the Powerball number in a single game. To win the division one jackpot your entry needs to match all 7 winning numbers plus the Powerball number in a single game. Powerball could give you the freedom to play by your own rules.

Powerball draws close at 7.30pm (AEST) every Thursday night.

What happens if you win Powerball

We're often asked 'What happens when you win?'. We encourage all players to register their entry, that way we can contact any registered division one winners straight after the draw to confirm that life changing news and begin the prize claim process.

When we reach out to confirm the win, our teams must follow a strict process to firstly confirm we are speaking to the rightful ticket holder. If you are a registered player, we will have all the details you’ve used to sign up as well as things like the exact type of ticket you bought, how many games, the numbers on the ticket, where you purchased it from.

Once we’ve confirmed we are speaking to the rightful ticket holder, we break the big news!

But if you bought a physical ticket in-store and it was not linked to a player card, we need you to call us on 131 868 if you think you have won the big one. You will need to fill out a prize claim form which can either be mailed to you, printed from our website, or picked up in person from a newsagent.

Once the form is filled out, it must be mailed back to us – along with the winning ticket – or dropped off in-person at a prize administration office.

Along with a novelty cheque and some celebratory champagne, we send each of our division one winners a booklet that details things they may like to consider, like speaking to a financial advisor and sharing the news with loved ones.

The odds of winning Division 1 is 134,490,400:1 & the odds of winning Division 2 is 7,078,443:1. It's important to note that Powerball is a game of chance where all numbers are drawn randomly. Each number has an equal chance of being drawn.
