A Sunshine Coast man has revealed his secret hiding place for his $24,000 top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket – an old and treasured DVD case.

The top prize winning $5 24k Gold Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Warana News, Shop 8, Warana Shopping Village, 239 Nicklin Way, Warana.

Speaking with us this morning, the winning man confessed he couldn’t bear the thought of misplacing his winning ticket and hid it away for safekeeping.

“I had a long week at work last week and thought to myself ‘I’m going to grab a couple of Instant Scratch-Its tickets on my way home,” he shared.

“I started scratching one of the Instant Scratch-Its I purchased and saw what I thought was a small prize.

“I kept scratching and couldn’t believe my eyes!

“I got my things together and headed straight back to the outlet.

“When the team member checked my ticket, they congratulated me. I couldn’t believe it.

“I thanked someone up above for this win. I knew it was my angel!

“I took the winning Instant Scratch-It home that night and hid it in a DVD case for safe keeping!

“I had a bit of a sleepless night. I kept waking up to check the ticket.

“I had to make sure that it wasn’t a dream!

“I was so shaky and nervous. You always hear of people winning and you never believe that it could be you!I certainly didn’t until I saw those numbers.

“This just goes to show that it’s possible and that anyone could win.

“I think I’m going to go on a trip overseas.

“Thank you so much.”

Warana News owner Paul Whitney said that they have sold two top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its tickets in the last 18 months.

“Oh boy! It’s so cool to know we’ve sold another top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket,” he said.

“We’re going to celebrate by sharing this win with customers, signs, and balloons galore!

“The customer came back to our outlet and shared the win with the team member who sold him the winning ticket.

“He’s a really nice guy, and so deserving of the win and we wish him the best of luck.
