A group of 38 friends from Logan Village are celebrating what they’ve described as the “ultimate Christmas Day surprise” – a million-dollar win in Wednesday’s Gold Lotto draw.

The entry, held by the long-running private syndicate, was the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3933, on Wednesday 25 December 2019 and takes home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.

In addition to winning division one, the System 7 QuickPick entry also scored division three 6 times, boosting the total prize to $1,003,768.00. Each member of the private syndicate will each receive a share worth more than $26,000.

When we contacted the syndicate leader this morning to confirm the division one win, he couldn’t contain his delight.

“It’s so good!” he declared.

“There’s 38 of us in the syndicate. We’re all friends and we’ve been putting in an entry each week for a long time.

“For the past three months, we’ve won zero, but now this!

“This would have to be one of the better Christmas Days.

“On Christmas night I just thought I would check the ticket. Initially, I thought I only had five numbers – not the six needed for division one, but thought it would win something. But then I rechecked and there were six numbers in a row.

“It’s just terrific! A one-million-dollar win!

“I’ve already started telling the syndicate members – word is travelling fast.

“This would have to be one of the better gifts we’ve received for Christmas. And to win on Christmas Day, you couldn’t get a better day, could you? It’s a great time of year to win.

“I’m thinking there could be a new car on the drawing board, others might have a holiday. Some are doing it a bit tough, so it’s a going to help them out a lot.

“It’s great to share the prize with so many.”

The million-dollar winning entry was sold at Logan Village News, Shop 4, Logan Village, 2-12 North Street, Logan Village.

It’s the second division one winning entry sold by Logan Village News this year. In April, it sold a Saturday Gold Lotto division one winning entry that won more than $574,000.

Logan Village News manager Ros Griffin said she couldn’t believe her outlet had sold another division one winning entry.

“We are bragging!” she laughed.

“As much as we love anyone winning, it’s always great when some of our regular customers are the winners.

“And being a syndicate, there’s lots of people enjoying the win, which is what we love to hear.”
