A Mareeba man dreaming of owning his very own yacht can now look forward to boat shopping on the Easter long weekend after reeling a million-dollar win in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.

The Far North Queenslander held one of the two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4275, drawn Wednesday 5 April 2023 and took home $1 million.

The winning entry was not registered to a player card, which means we had no way of notifying the winner of their life-changing win and had to wait for them to check their ticket.

The regular player received the shock of a lifetime when he walked into his local newsagency to check his lottery tickets and walked out as a newly-minted millionaire.

“I feel numb!” he laughed.

“What an ecstatic feeling! I’ve been playing for nearly six decades and have been visiting Nextra Mareeba News for quite some time now.

“I went to check my Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket from last night, and the team member pulled me aside to check my winning numbers off one by one.

“I will keep it on the downlow and process the win in private.

“I’m not entirely sure what I’ll exactly do with the prize, but it would be a dream to buy a yacht and p*** off!

“Thank you so much!”

His winning ticket was purchased at Nextra Mareeba News, 125 Byrnes Street, Mareeba.

Nextra Mareeba News owner Mary Graham said they’re thrilled to have sold another division one winning entry to one of their regular customers.

“We couldn’t believe the news when we found out we’d sold a division one winning entry in last night’s draw,” she said.

“This is the second division one winning entry that we’ve sold since we’ve owned Nextra Mareeba News, and we can imagine it will be the start of a winning streak for Mareeba!

“I had the pleasure of revealing the news to the winning man when he checked his ticket this morning. I stood with him and checked his winning numbers off with a highlighter!

“Congratulations to him and his family, we can’t be happier for him and thank all of our customers for supporting us.”
