Play For Purpose is a not-for-profit raffle helping hundreds of great Australian causes supercharge their fundraising. As part of its support of community organisations, The Lott provides resources and financial support to every Play For Purpose raffle.

A young Forest Lake mum couldn’t stop screaming today when she received the news she’d won a prize worth $250,000 from a Play For Purpose raffle ticket she purchased to support a charity that’s close to her heart.

The Queensland winner’s Play For Purpose prize from Raffle 11, drawn Friday 11 June 2021, includes a Land Rover Defender worth $118,374, $125,000 in cashable gold bullion and $6,626 in vouchers from some of Australia’s leading retailers.

Each Play For Purpose ticket gives players the chance to win hundreds of prizes, all while supporting an Australian charitable cause of their choice.

The 1st Prize winner couldn’t stop screaming when she heard the exciting news.

“Oh my god! Oh my god! Are you serious?” she screamed happily.

“What! Are you kidding me?

“I am with my family now. I need to put you on speaker so they can hear you. Can you say that again so they can hear it?

“Oh my god! Oh my god! I am not sure if you can hear that, but we are all screaming.

“Oh man, oh man! I can’t think. I can’t speak.

“I was wondering who kept trying to call me, and I am so glad I answered!

“I am completely blown away.

“This is one of the best days ever!”

The emotional woman explained the reason she purchased Play For Purpose tickets.

“My daughter has a lot of health problems, and we are constantly in and out of the hospital and going to doctors’ appointments,” she explained.

“Having a sick child myself just makes me value the Children’s Hospital Foundation so much more.

“Whenever I purchase tickets into charity draws, I always support similar organisations.

“It’s incredibly close to my heart, and my heart goes out to anyone with a sick child.

“Families with sick kids struggle so much, and these kind of charities do incredible work, so I feel good buying a ticket that can support their vital work.”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her win, the Brisbane woman held no hesitation.

“This will go towards our house and our kids,” she said.

“I need to get the kids new beds and a few things like that, so this will come in handy.

“Last week, my partner was saying he wanted to buy me a Land Rover because I’d look so cool in it. And I agree! I will look so cool in it!

“We are going to spend the day celebrating. It’s going to be a pamper day and we will go out for a very nice lunch.”

The Queensland resident bought her winning Play For Purpose ticket in support of Children's Hospital Foundation.

Children's Hospital Foundation Chief Executive Officer said Rosie Simpson was thrilled to hear that a supporter had scored the 1st Prize.

“We’re so happy that the 1st prize winner is a supporter of the Children’s Hospital Foundation and that the prize is going to go to someone who needs it the most,” she said.

“With the help of supporters like her we’ve raised over $300,000 through Play For Purpose to help work wonders for sick and injured kids.

“Every raffle ticket sold helps provides support for children and their families in hospital, and funding vital research and new equipment.

"Because of our supporters, we can continue to make a difference in the fight against childhood illness and injury so every child can grow up as happy and healthy as possible.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her entry at playforpurpose.com.au.

Other major prize-winners were from across Australia, including Carindale, Marsden Park, Thornbury, and Pearcedale, who won second, third, fourth and fifth prize packages in support of Love Your Sister, Children's Hospital Foundation, Rural Aid, and Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

The next Play For Purpose raffle is now open.
