A Monto woman has confessed she’s struggling to grasp the magnitude of her $1.8 million win in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw after a lottery official caught her by surprise  this morning.

The North Burnett resident held one of the 11 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto 4409, drawn Saturday 21 October 2023 and took home a total prize of $1,818,198.12.

“Oh my god!” she yelled when we revealed her million-dollar win.

“Oh, that’s wonderful!

“I’m shaking. I can’t believe I’ve won $1.8 million.

“I’ve never won anything like that in my life.

“I still can’t believe it. I honestly don’t know what to say.

“I don’t think I’ll be telling many people, but I’ll definitely be celebrating tonight!

“I’m speechless! I can’t think right now.

“I’d love to put the prize towards a house. I’ve always wanted to own a home in my name.

Her winning marked 18-game entry was purchased at Monto Newsagency, 33 Newton Street, Monto.

Monto Newsagency owner Therese Roger said she couldn’t believe her newsagency had sold a division one winning entry to a local woman.

“My first reaction when I first found out on Saturday night was ‘Oh my god! How exciting!’. I couldn’t believe we had sold a division one winning entry worth $1.8 million,” she said.

“As far as my knowledge goes, we’ve only ever sold one other division one winning entry back in 2014 so our local community will be thrilled.

“I’ve started to celebrate this win with my amazing team at Monto Newsagency, and I recognise their efforts and hard work. We couldn’t have changed the lives of one of our customers without them.

“We’ve started to advertise the exciting news in-store and on our social media accounts. I think that it will create a lot of excitement with our customers and the community.

“Our team would like to say a massive congratulations to the winner and we hope it brings lots of happiness and excitement to you.”
