A Frankston retiree has confessed the only downside of him winning the lottery was the lack of sleep that occured after he discovered he scored $1.8 million in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The Victorian player held one of the 11 division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4049 on Saturday 9 May 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,818,181.82.

Speaking to an official from the Lott this morning, the ecstatic man explained he hadn’t slept much since discovering the news.

“I’m still coming down to earth!” he exclaimed.

“I’m absolutely rapt! I checked my ticket on the app first thing Sunday morning and when I saw I had won I couldn’t believe it.

“I called my son straight away and I was so flustered he said ‘Dad you’re not having a heart attack are you?’

“He came around just to make sure I wasn’t bullsh*tting him.

“I’ve got to say I didn’t sleep very well last night. It’s the only downside of winning the lottery.

“It just kept racing around my head. I’m just so rapt.

“I text my son at 4am and he text me right back.

“He didn’t get much sleep either!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy life as a millionaire, the tired but happy winner declared he knew exactly how he would spend it.

“I’ve got it all planned out after thinking about it all night!” he declared.

“I’m going to give half to my kids so they can pay off their mortgages and set themselves up with new cars.

“I’m going to use some to do renovations on my house. I’ll do up the kitchen, bathrooms and put in new carpets so I’ll be able to enjoy living here for the rest of my retirement.

“Then I am going to put the rest into my super and relax knowing I’m covered.”

The decisive man also said he knew exactly how he would celebrate.

“Unfortunately we can’t do much to celebrate at the moment while we are all self-isolating but once it is all over, I’m going to visit my family and celebrate with them,” he explained.

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry at Tower Hill Lotto, Shop 5, 145 Frankston-Flinders Road, Frankston.

Tower Hill Lotto owner Alan Anderson said he was very excited to have sold his first division one winning entry since owning the business.

“We are so excited for our winner! We are so happy a local has won!” he exclaimed.

“We are hopeful our customers will be as excited as we are knowing we’ve sold a major prize.

“We’ll be celebrating in store this week by decorating with balloons and telling everyone we’ve sold a division one winning entry.

“We have a fantastic and loyal customer base and so it’s great to know we’ve played a part in making a difference in someone’s life.

“A big congratulations to our winner. We hope the win will assist in making all of their dreams come true.”
