A young Warwick tradie is looking forward to buying a fully air-conditioned house after scoring a division one prize worth almost $700,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.

The Southern Downs local held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4021 on Saturday 1 February 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home a prize of $692,782.72.

When we contacted the man this morning to confirm the his prize, the happy winner recounted his life-changing discovery.

“You could say I had a pretty good weekend!” he laughed.

“I discovered the news in the early hours of Sunday morning. It was so hot, I couldn’t sleep and so I moved into the lounge room because it’s the only room with air conditioning.

“I was just laying on the couch when I scanned my ticket and saw that I had won. I thought to myself ‘there is no way this could be real’.

“I couldn’t believe it, so I checked it again. Then I got up and went straight to the newsagency so they could confirm it.

“That’s when it started to sink in!

“I called my mate and we went straight to the pub to celebrate. It’s been a good weekend!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy the life-changing prize, the winner revealed the win had come at a good time.

“I’m going to buy myself a new ute and a new house and the house is definitely going to have air conditioning in every room!” he joked.

“It’s has come at a really good time in my life. It’s going to set me up for the future.

“My boss called me to make sure I was still coming into work, and I said ‘of course!’.

“The win takes the pressure off, but I’ll still be going to work every day!”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry at Allora Newsagency, 54 Herbert Street, Allora.

Allora Newsagency owner David Dwan said he was extremely excited to break the news to the winner first thing on Sunday morning.

“It was so exciting when he came in to double check and confirm the win,” he said.

“It’s great news for our small town. All our customers are already really excited about the win.

“We’ve been experiencing severe drought so this will be a huge lift for everyone’s spirit.

“This is the second division one win we’ve sold.

“We are very happy for our winner because it will set him up for the future.

“Congratulations to our winner!”
