A quiet dinner with workmates quickly turned into celebratory drinks after a Brooklyn Park man checked his Monday & Wednesday X Lotto ticket and discovered his million-dollar win.

The Adelaide resident held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 4184, drawn Monday 23 May 2022. Each division one winner takes home a prize of $1 million.

This morning, we reached out to the winner, who admitted he’d struggled to sleep after making the exciting discovery last night.

“I checked my ticket last night on The Lott app and I found out I’d won $1 million,” he explained.

“I was dumbfounded! It’s incredible.

“I was having a quiet dinner with my workmates when I discovered the news. I made them all check my ticket for me to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.

“They were blown away. There was lots of cheering and hugs! We had a few drinks to celebrate. It was a lot of fun!

“Once I got home, I shared the news with my family, and they were all wrapped. We can’t believe it! We’re over the moon.

“I’m still at work today because I didn’t want to let my team down, but I’m certainly in a better mood now.

“This million-dollar prize changes a lot for my family.

“It means I’ll be able to retire sooner than I planned and enjoy my retirement.

“I’ll also be able to look after my family.

“It’s fantastic. I’m still trying to process things though!”

His winning marked System 7 entry was purchased at Brooklyn Park Newsagency, IGA Shopping Centre, 289 Henley Beach Road, Brooklyn Park.

Brooklyn Park Newsagency manager Bill Richardson said the entire team was celebrating the big win.

“How fantastic is that! We’re so excited,” he said.

“I’ve been here about two years and it’s the biggest win we’ve had since then – so it’s a massive moment for us.

“We’re blown away for the winner and hope he enjoys his million-dollar win.

“We’d love to send the local man a big congratulations! It’s terrific news for the winner, our store and the local community.

“Hopefully, this is the start of a winning streak for the outlet.”
