Starlight – bringing happiness to sick kids and teens
They say laughter is the best medicine.
Starlight Children’s Foundation knows the importance of happiness to kids, and even more so for those with a serious illness. It’s why they’re dedicated to brightening the lives of sick kids and their families.
Happiness is at the core of everything Starlight does.
Their much-loved initiatives, including the Starlight Express Room, Starlight Ward program, Livewire in Hospital, and the Starlight Wish granting program, are all designed to bring joy and laughter to kids in hospital.
For kids who may spend months at a time in hospital, Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express rooms transport the children and their families to a fun, joy filled world where they can smile, play, and for a moment forget they are sick.
The Livewire program enables teens living with a serious illness, disability or chronic health condition, to connect with peers who understand what they are going through via a safe and supportive online community.
And of course, a Starlight Wish offers a child a once-in-a-lifetime-experience and the opportunity to create new memories. The first Starlight Wish was granted over 30 years ago, and since then Starlight have created more than 11,000 incredible Starlight Wish experiences.
Just last year we funded 38 Starlight Wishes.
For 13 years, The Lott through Golden Casket has been a supporter of the wonderful work Starlight do for children living with serious illnesses, and we look forward to partnering with them for many years to come.
A lot of Australians don’t realise that when they play Australia’s Official Lotteries - they’re contributing to important things, like the sparkle in the eyes of kids doing it tough. And that’s a Lott more to play for.
