A Cronulla man in his 40s couldn’t contain his delight this afternoon and immediately burst into tears of joy upon discovering he won $20 million in last night’s Powerball draw.

The Sydneysider held one of the two division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1433, drawn Thursday, 2 November 2023. Each division one winning entry scored $20 million.

As the winning entry was unregistered, we had no way to contact the ticketholder to confirm the $20 million prize. Instead, we've been waiting for the winner to check their ticket and make contact to start the prize claim process.

“Oh mate! I was happy before I won this, but this is just a whole new level,” he cried when we uncovered his multi-million-dollar windfall this afternoon

“I’m crying tears of joy. I don’t know where the tears are coming from.

“I can’t believe it! I’ve bloody done it!

“I was just on Facebook and saw The Lott was looking for a mystery winner who had purchased their ticket at One Stop Shop in Kirrawee. I thought, ‘that’s where I buy my tickets from’.

“Normally I don’t check my tickets until Sunday, but I thought I’d better check it today.

“Holey dooley!”

With $20 million about to boost his bank account right before Christmas, the New South Welshman shared the prize would go a long way and make a lot of people happy.

“I’m already happy and this is just going to make a lot of other people around me happy – my mum, my family. The kids are set!” he revealed.

“And I’m going to have a lot of fun and I want to make sure the people around me have a lot of fun too.

“Tonight, I’m going to celebrate with some cold beers and Chinese takeaway!”

The man’s winning entry was purchased at One Stop Shop, 70 Acacia Road, Kirrawee.

One Stop Shop owner Dennis Liang said he and his team couldn’t believe it was their outlet that had sold one of the two division one winning entries in last night’s Powerball draw.

“We’re in disbelief!” he laughed.

“We’ll be putting balloons up everywhere and shouting it from the rooftops. This is an incredibly exciting day for us as it’s been many years since we sold a division one winning entry.

“What an amazing end to the week!

“I’d like to wish our winner all the best for their future and hope this win is the start of something magical for them.”
