A Bondi man who was recently made redundant and had been looking for work is now contemplating an early retirement after winning last night’s Set for Life division one prize of $4.8 million.

The winner held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2056, drawn Tuesday 23 March 2021. He takes home the division one prize of $4.8 million paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

When we called the winner this morning, he was out running errands and had no idea his life had changed overnight.

“I am just driving right now! Oh my god, I need to pull over,” he laughed.

“Are you serious? Oh my god! Oh my god!

“This is insane! It’s unbelievable!

“I could cry!

“I was recently made redundant at work, so the timing couldn’t be better!

“This is an absolute game-changer for me. Wow!

“This is beautiful!

“I am going to get a fancy bottle of champagne to celebrate. I can’t wait until I break the news to my wife!”

Although news of his windfall came as a surprise, the overjoyed man said he did have a few ideas of how he would enjoy the prize.

“Basically, this will be used for my retirement now,” he said.

“I had been looking to get another job but now I don’t need to!

“When the borders open up, I would love to do some more international travel.

“And there will most likely be a new car, a boat and some fishing trips too!”

The life-changing marked 10-game entry was purchased online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
