A Thomastown woman has admitted that she’d had a prize claim form sitting on her bedside table for years, waiting for the day she won the lottery and thanks to a $4.8 million Set for Life division one win – her pen is at the ready.

The Melbourne player was one of the three division one winners across the country in Set for Life draw 1908, drawn Monday  26 October 2020, each taking home a division one prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

This morning, we called the winner, who had been eagerly waiting by the phone to hear the news confirmed.

“I checked my numbers late last night,” she said.

“I was circling my numbers, and then I realised I had circled them all.

“I screamed ‘Oh my god! I have won!’

“I checked it over and over.

“I went and told my daughter, and she couldn’t believe it either, so she checked it as well.

“Then I told my husband, and I got him to double-check, he was blown away.

“We were all so shocked!

“The whole night I was so excited I couldn’t sleep.

“We sat up for ages talking about what we are going to do with the prize.

“After that, I tried to sleep, but I just kept watching the clock, waiting until I could speak to you.

“This feels like a dream! It’s amazing.

“We are going to celebrate this weekend. My husband wants to go to a fine dining restaurant!

“You know, I have a stash of your prize claim forms right beside my bed because I always had a feeling I was going to win division one! Now it’s happened it feels insane.”

When asked how she intended to enjoy her prize, the overjoyed woman admitted she’d spent the night making plans.

“I want a new car! A brand new car,” she laughed.

“I was online shopping for one last night.

“I also am thinking about retiring from work. That would be a dream come true!

“Once the boarders open up, we are going to travel all around the world. I want to go to Asia and Europe. I want to go everywhere!
“We also have a few things around the house we want to do.”

The winning 4-game marked entry was purchased at Thomastown News & Lotto, 223 High Street, Thomastown.

Thomastown News & Lotto owner Vaikunth Gohil said he couldn’t be happier for his winner.

“It’s marvellous!” he said.

“This is our fourth division one win this year, so we are feeling very lucky!

“We had a win on Mother’s Day, a win on Father’s Day and then a week after that, so this is the fourth.

“We have had twenty-one division one winners in thirteen years, so I am very proud.

“We are so happy for the winner. This is our first Set for Life winner!

“Set for Life is such an amazing prize; it would really set you up for life.

“We’d love to send our congratulations to our winner.”
