The excitement of winning $20,000 a month for the next 20 years has left a Tolga couple tossing and turning in their sleep and crying tears of happiness.

The Tablelands region residents held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life, drawn Wednesday 17 May 2023.

They take home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

The winning couple is the 115th Set for Life winner since the game was introduced in 2015, and the 8th division one winner so far in 2023.

“That’s awesome! We’re very happy,” the winning husband exclaimed when an official called this morning to reveal the winning news.

“My wife is crying tears of joy right next to me – we can’t believe it.

“We weren’t too sure if it was legitimate. We discovered it late last night at midnight.

“We had a sleepless night, and I’m sure we’re set for another sleepless night tonight!

“I’ve been playing Set for Life every week for several months. I usually only win small amounts in divisions 6, division 8 and divisions 9, so this is a real shock!

“I can now say I’ve won division one in Set for Life!

“We’re still waking up and going to work today, but we will celebrate and go out for dinner tonight.

“Thank you so much.”

With $20,000 a month about to boost their bank account for the next 20 years, the Far North Queenslanders couldn’t wait to say goodbye to renting forever.

“The first thing we will do is buy our very own home. As soon as we saw the prize last night on The Lott app, we knew immediately that we no longer have to rent,” he said.

His winning 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
