A week after the winning numbers were drawn, a Gold Coast man has checked his Set for Life ticket to discover he’s now $4.8 million richer.

The Queensland winner held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 2331, drawn Thursday 23 December 2021. He takes home the prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

So far in 2021, there have been 16 division one wins on the Gold Coast collectively worth more than $56.4 million.

The winning entry was unregistered, which means officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the winner to break the life-changing news.

However, this morning, the Gold Coast resident was stunned to realise he was the division one winner officials had been looking for.

“Thank you! I still cannot believe it,” he exclaimed.

“I checked my ticket, but I just wasn’t sure it was real until you confirmed it just now.

“It’s not a bad win! I never win anything, so this is unbelievable.”

The regular Set for Life player said he would still turn up for work in 2022, but hoped the prize would allow him to support causes close to his heart.

“I’ll keep working. I like what I do,” he explained.

“I can promise you it will do a lot of good. It’s just going to help me help others. It means more for the charities I support.”

The winning entry was purchased at Mudgeeraba Newsagency, Shop 23, Mudgeeraba Markets, 3 Swan Lane, Mudgeeraba.

Mudgeeraba Newsagency owner Lyne Woods said she was thrilled to deliver a festive treat to one of her customers.

“It’s wonderful!” she exclaimed.

“It’s a very good Christmas gift.

“We’ve sold a few shares in division one winning syndicates, but this is a great big win.

“We wish our winner all the very best with their prize.”
